About Snow

Understanding and describing snow conditions is a necessary part of understanding and working on skis. While we always strive to keep things simple, it doesn’t take a lot of experience or sophistication to realize that there are many different types of snow conditions. We’re always happy to work with customers on the basis of “universal cold” or “universal warm”, provided we’ve got an idea of where and when you’re target events are. But we also like to provide some more in-depth access to the way we understand and work with snow.

The drop-down menu items under “about snow” give you background information on our new color-coded system for describing snow conditions. Under snow conditions you will find the basic information you need to take full advantage of our system, our understanding, and our services. Further down, under about transitions and about friction you’ll find more advanced topics that can give you some additional insight into how we work.
